Sysco and Service Assurance

Periodically inclement weather brings not just inconvenience or challenges driving, but service interruption of utilities. In recent years we have experienced outages upward of eight hours that stressed both us and the customers we serve. The prospect of service interruption significant to all, but critical to hospitals, nursing and assisted living centers, colleges, and other businesses where consequences can be severe.

Sysco Indianapolis is in the process of installing two diesel powered generators designed to supply the electrical needs of our facility should utilities fail. The project is well underway with the generators on site and a test date in early Spring. The benefits of reliability and safety of our business and associates is a compelling case to make this investment. Protecting a significant investment in inventory also is a strong business argument.

Perhaps the greatest benefit lies with our customers who rely on us to provide service. The confidence gained by having the expectation of uninterrupted deliveries would be a welcome assumption when so many issues will need to be resolved.

It is our commitment to be the first choice of the foodservice and hospitality industry in our market. This latest project is tangible evidence that Good things come from Sysco, even in the most challenging of circumstances.
