Generating Confidence with Sysco
Sysco Indianapolis embarked on an energy review of our operation a few years back. Since that time many steps have been made to manage our energy, reduce our carbon footprint, and gain a competitive advantage through energy management. During this assessment, the opportunity to have uninterrupted energy was also identified as a long term objective. The proposal to purchase diesel powered generators with the capacity to run Sysco Indy’s entire operation was developed, approved and began implementation in early 2010. At this time, the final phase has been completed and the generators are fully operational.
The cooperation we received from our neighbors, Pike Township, county and city government, and the project manager, Duke Construction made the process smooth and rewarding. This investment in our facility and business is a good indication of Sysco’s commitment to the local community, our presence in Indianapolis, and the State of Indiana.
The generators serve as a safeguard to our inventory, the safe operation of our facility, and the capability to execute our commitments to customers and suppliers in spite of the potential for interrupted power. Our customers may or may not have their power interrupted at the same time, our ability to serve them regardless has been greatly enhanced. This is especially critical to customers in the healthcare, education, and criminal justice industries. To have the foodservice supplies needed to meet their needs during an outage is critical to their business.
It is our hope your confidence in dealing with Sysco has only been enhanced with this recent addition. You can also be assured we will continue to invest in our business to be a better provider and reward your trust.
